Nearly $100 Million to NYS Health Innovation Plan
New York State was awarded the State Innovation Models (SIM) Initiative: Round Two Award in December of 2014 by the Center for Innovation at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The five year program will bring close to $100 million to New York State to test and implement a tiered Advanced Primary Care (APC) model integrating both population and behavioral health.
The goal of the SIM initiative will test the capabilities of the state’s use of policy and regulation to speed up transformation in the healthcare delivery system and provide better care at a lower cost.
Susan Stuard, Executive Vice President of Policy and Strategy of HealthlinkNY and Executive Director of THINC, is co-chairing the SHIP Integrated Care Workgroup along with Foster Gesten, MD, Medical Director, Office of Patient Safety and Quality at New York State Department of Health and Troy Oeschner, Deputy Superintendent for Health, New York State Department of Financial Services.
The Integrated Care Workgroup was launched in January, 2015. The Workgroup will focus on developing recommendations for the New York State APC model including milestones, practice transformation guidelines, and health plan payment models.
