$$$ Incentives Available, But You'd Better Act Fast!
June 14th, 2016
If your organization has at least one DOH-registered Medicaid provider, you may be eligible for the Data Exchange Incentive Program (DEIP). It’s not too late, but funding is limited and you have to go live by Sept. 30!
Your patients’ medical records are invaluable to your practice. They also are invaluable to your patients’ other providers and to groups managing population health to benefit the whole community. Therefore, HealthlinkNY is encouraging providers to step up and become bi-directional participants in the Health Information Exchange (HIE).
In a bi-directional connection, providers can contribute patient data to improve care coordination with other providers, as well as look up and retrieve patient records throughout New York State’s Statewide Patient Record Lookup (SPRL). Now, additional money has been made available through DEIP to offset the cost of linking your records to the HealthlinkNY HIE.
Established by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, DEIP is designed to increase HIE adoption by Medicaid Eligible Professionals (EPs). Provider organizations with at least one Medicaid provider registered as an active fee-for-service provider via the NYS DOH MEIPAS System can enroll in the program and receive a monetary incentive for a qualifying connection. EPs must meet a minimum 30% of Medicaid patient encounter threshold. For pediatricians, the Medicaid patient threshold is 20%.
“Funding is limited, and the program is operated on a first-come, first-serve basis,” explains Christina Galanis, president and CEO of HealthlinkNY. “There is also a time limit. Eligible providers must go live with a bi-directional connection before September 30, 2016, so the time to act is right now.”
