HealthlinkNY Supports Mental Health Awareness Month

May 15th, 2015 - May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) is hosting multiple events to educate the community.

MHAST is hosting events throughout the month of May to educate the community about mental illness. The theme for the event is “hope and celebration in the awareness that recovery from mental illness is possible.”

MHAST has been an avid user of the HealthlinkNY Health Information Exchange (HIE) Web Portal since January of 2014 and says its use with the HIE has helped improve continuity of care for mental health patients.

“In an environment where up-to-the-minute patient health information is needed to provide quality care coordination to those with one or more chronic health conditions, its peace of mind knowing HealthlinkNY has us covered with reliable HIT,” says Executive Director of MHAST, Keith W. Leahey.

HealthlinkNY and its team feels passionate about making a difference in patients’ lives and aiding providers in delivering the best possible care.

The MHAST website has a complete list of events happening around the area for Mental Health Awareness Month: www.yourmha.com. All of the proceeds from the events go back to programs and services at the mental health association.
