HealthlinkNY is part of the Statewide Health Information Network for New York (SHIN-NY, pronounced shine-knee). That means a provider in Buffalo can access records in Brooklyn.
New York is one of the few states to have established a statewide Health Information Exchange (HIE). Now its goal is to transform healthcare by making health information available wherever and whenever it is needed.
The New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) is the state’s designated entity to collaboratively lead and coordinate the SHIN-NY, working closely with the New York State Department of Health. NYeC’s new strategic plan, “The SHIN-NY 2020 Roadmap,” sets priorities for the next few years, and the action steps necessary, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the SHIN-NY infrastructure.
The SHIN-NY 2020 Roadmap is a high-level framework to find a way to reduce reliance on government funding and establish a solid base for additional private support. For more information and to access the report, visit https://www.nyehealth.org/shin-ny/2020-roadmap/.
Throughout New York State, the SHIN-NY is improving health in our communities through improved care quality, lower costs, better care coordination, and increased efficiency.
