FirstCare Walk-In Medical Center is Now Connected and Contributing to the HealthlinkNY HIE

February 17th, 2016 - FirstCare Walk-In Medical Center is now able to retrieve their patients’ pertinent medical information the instant it’s need from the HealthlinkNY Health Information Exchange (HIE).

FirstCare Medical Center in Highland, NY runs an urgent care division that offers urgent care 7 days a week, 362 days a year with no appointment needed. FirstCare’s connection to the HealthlinkNY HIE will allow them to view their patient’s medical records from other organizations that are connected to the HIE. Providers at FirstCare will be able to access their patients’ complete health records through their existing Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, allowing for quick and efficient access to important health information in emergency situations.

In addition to FirstCare being able to query records from the HIE, they are now contributing information to the HIE as well. FirstCare offers continuing adult and pediatric care, physical therapy, cosmic dermatology, cardiology, digestive disease specialty and a LabCorp blood drawing center.  Patients receiving scheduled care from another connected organization will be giving their providers the ability to view their contact information, medical history, lab results, diagnosis, procedures, radiology images, medications, allergies and encounters. This complete HealthlinkNY patient record makes transitions of care, specialty visits, treatments and collaboration between providers much more efficient, while providing a more positive patient experience.
