About the Partnership

Simple, for both our patients and providers! HealthlinkNY is committed to continuous improvement, and we want to take our offerings to the next level to better serve our participants and stakeholders. HealtheConnections has proven technology which provides services previously unavailable to our current participants. With the new platform, users will be able to further filter data, set up advanced alerts and results routing, and have access to more information, including the New York State Immunization Information System (NYSIIS), Veterans Administration (VA), and Department of Defense (DoD). HealthlinkNY and HealtheConnections are better together because we share the same commitment of using our robust and innovative HIEs to better serve both patients and providers. Together, we’ll cover 43% of New York State and 21.5% of its population. Covering this much ground means increased depth and breadth of data to assist providers with better care for patients. Both HealthlinkNY and HealtheConnections are considered regional health care improvement catalysts because, not only do we allow providers to share medical records with each other, we also administer collaborative population health improvement initiatives in our regions.

The HealtheConnections platform will allow you to use the HIE to its fullest potential. You’ll be able to filter data to see parts of a patient’s record that are relevant and important to you; new tools in the platform will allow the extraction, reporting, and visualization of database content that’s meaningful to you; and the platform’s increased functionality is intuitive with preferences and features that are customizable to you.

Your patients/clients will see a host of benefits from this partnership. With the expanded capabilities of HealtheConnections’ user portal and the increased depth of data available to you, your patients/clients can experience a higher level of care coordination. You’ll have the tools right at your fingertips to stay on top of their complete medical history and ensure they’re receiving the highest quality of care.

How This Affects You and Your Organization

No. Sharing platforms will not require your organization to sign a new PAR.

In 2019 we will roll out new consent forms, but only for new patient consents. All current consent values will transfer, so you will not need to recollect consents from your patients/clients who have already done so.

Yes. The new feature-rich platform is user-friendly and comes with a host of enhanced technical capabilities like the ability to filter data, access to an increased breadth and depth of data, and the ability to see minors’ data from birth through age 18 just to name a few! Once trained, users will fill out a simple new user form to access the HealtheConnections platform.

The HealtheConnections platform will bring increased value to the HIE with expanded services and technology that will enhance the provider experience. With this new platform, providers will be able to filter data, have an increased depth and breadth of data available to them, access VA and DoD data, and have more advanced alerting capabilities to name a few.

HealthlinkNY’s population health initiatives will remain the same, as this change primarily affects the HIE. Moving forward, our goals for this partnership include developing tools using combined HIE data that can positively impact population health initiatives, help to identify health disparities, and more. No. Your organization will not incur any costs to migrate to HealtheConnections’ platform.

Technology & Services

The HealtheConnections platform will allow you to use the HIE beyond today’s services. You’ll be able to filter data to see parts of a patient’s record that are relevant and important to you; new tools in the platform will allow the extraction, reporting, and visualization of database content that is meaningful to you; and the platform’s increased functionality is intuitive with preferences and features that are customizable to you.

No. However, it’s a simple process to come up with a new username and password. The HealthlinkNY team will be there every step of the way to ensure this transition goes smoothly.

Our Support Desks will be one and the same. However, feel free to call your current respective Qualified Entity (HealthlinkNY or HealtheConnections).

HealthlinkNY participants will be migrated to the new platform in waves, and we will connect and train you prior to the transition. Some will be migrated sooner than others, but we anticipate all HealthlinkNY participants to be connected to the new platform by Spring 2019. Please keep in mind that our staff of highly qualified professionals will be with you at every step of the process to ensure a seamless transition.

It depends on how your organization is accessing HealthlinkNY’s HIE. Web portal users will need to be re-trained on the new platform and then they’ll be up and running. If you’re a HealthlinkNY participant who is accessing the HIE via your connected EHR (bi-directional feed) then your transition will be completely seamless.

No, not during the initial phase of migrating to HealtheConnections’s platform. However, long term, we may need to redirect your organization’s feed into the combined HIE, which will require minimal effort. If that happens, we’ll be with you every step of the way to ensure a smooth, convenient transition.
